FireStore FS-4 Pro Available Next Month
March 02, 2005
Campbell, CA - FOCUS Enhancements has released its FireStore FS-4 Pro to manufacturing, and will ship product in April.
The latest addition to the FireStore family of Direct To Edit (DTE) Technology digital video disk recorders, the FS-4 brings tapeless technology to hand-held DV camcorders from JVC, Panasonic, Canon, Sony and others.
Unveiled at WEVA EXPO 2004, the product was held up due to delays in getting its plastic molds and other assembly pieces from off-shore suppliers, a company spokesperson reported.
Designed to mount directly to hand-held camcorders, be worn on a belt or used in other situations where portability is a requirement, the FS-4 is ideal for wedding and event production, field production, independent film, corporate, education and many other uses. Powered by a removable battery system, the FS-4 interfaces with camcorders via a single FireWire (IEEE-1394, iLink) cable.
DTE Technology allows hand-held camcorder owners to record clips in native NLE file formats so editing can begin immediately after shooting is finished. This eliminates the need to first capture then convert files prior to editing.
The FS-4 Pro recorder adds support for the Avid OMF and Pinnacle AVI formats, and retro record modes for backup. Other features include a user definable time lapse, loop playback, scene marking, and multiple file capabilities.
The FireStore FS-4 and accessories will be sold through Canon U.S.A Authorized video dealers, it was recently announced, among other authorized outlets.
Manufacturer's suggested list priceing for the FireStore line-up inlcudes:
FS-4 40GB = $799
FS-4 Pro 40GB = $1,195
FS-4 Pro 80GB = $1,595
