New Boris Red Version Supports SD/HD
February 18, 2005

Boston, MA - Boris Red 3.0.2 is now available, the manufacturer has announced, with support for HD/SD editing software added.

Boris Red 3GL is a plug-in solution that provides integrated broadcast-quality features for titling, compositing and 3D effects directly inside nonlinear editing systems. Red also includes the Red Engine for standalone rendering.

This update to the Red 3GL product adds support for additional hosts, including the Canopus EDIUS Pro 3 real-time HD/SD editing software, the Media 100 HD HD/SD editing system and the Pinnacle Liquid Edition version 6. The latest version of EDIUS will include a 15-day Try and Buy version of Boris Red.

The following improvements have been added to Version 3.02:
- A new Template Mode lets you apply effects directly from the Library Browser to the timeline
- Support for Canopus Edius Pro 3, Media 100 HD and Pinnacle Liquid Edition systems
- Better integration with the Sony Pictures Digital Vegas Video and Adobe Premiere Pro host applications
- Video out from the standalone Red Engine for Avid systems with supported Adrenaline and Mojo hardware
- Additional compatibility between Red and Avid FX
- A new preference lets you customize the colors of the Red interface
- Projects and settings remain fully compatible with the Version 3.0 and 3.0.1 releases
- Reduced installer size for faster download and installation
- Support for parameter name translations into several languages via an XML dictionary
- The installer on both platforms has been localized into several languages

Boris Red is a plug-in application that provides integrated broadcast-quality features for titling, compositing and 3D effects, applied directly to clips in the host NLE timeline. A custom user interface is where effects are created. This architecture allows the applications to share an interface that appears and behaves the same across different platforms and in each of the more than 20 supported NLEs, including Apple Final Cut Pro HD, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Avid systems. In addition, all three plug-ins include the Red Engine, standalone application that creates effects offline using any computer. The KeyFramer is a cross-platform application that can be distributed free of charge.

Version 3.02 is available as a free download to existing Version 3 customers. Boris Red is available through the BorisFX worldwide reseller channel, direct through BorisFX or online. Upgrades from earlier versions of Boris Red are $295 USD. Owners of Boris FX, Graffiti, and Calligraphy may upgrade to Boris Red for $999. Through March 31, 2005, this upgrade includes a free Boris Red training DVD. The suggested retail price for new purchases of Boris Red is $1,595 and also includes the training DVD.
