Digital Heaven Delivers Multicam for Mac
January 24, 2005
London, GB - Multicam Lite, a plug-in for editing among multiple cameras in Apple's Final Cut Pro, is now available from Digital Heaven.
Compatible with OS X and FCP v 4.1 and later, Multicam Lite allows for editing up to three cameras simply by clicking on the keyboard's 1/2/3 keys, or inside a display window, the company describes.
DV, DVCPRO25 or Offline RT files can be used; when three concurrent streams of DV playback are required, a dual processor G4/G5 is recommended. Systems with lower processing power can work with less than three cameras, or using Offline RT low-res proxy files.
Imported audio is played in sync with camera video (labelled V1, V2 and/or V3); 16 x 9 and 4 x 3 materials can be used, displayed properly in the interface window.
Among the program's other features are up to 32 levels of undo; special snap-to-edit functions and a trim editor for adding or subtracting frames.
Once completed, the Multicam Lite 'edit decision list' is exported via XML to the FCP timeline for further editing if required. Final Cut Express does not support Multicam Lite, as it does not have an XML export capability.
The manufacturer has also announced that a Multicam Pro version is in the works, with support for up to 20 cameras.
Multicam Lite for FCP can be downloaded now for $295.00.
