TV Channel Pays Videographers for HD/HDV Footage
January 21, 2005
Austin, TX - Native resolution high definition video submissions are being sought by The Window Channel, a scenic programming channel set to debut in 2005.
Accepted submissions will receive a one-time fee for unlimited broadcast on The Window Channel or any of its affiliates, it was reported. The footage will be archived and cataloged into TWC's online video image bank where it will be eligible for additional royalty revenue.
Submissions must be five minutes in length; photographed in 1080i 60 from a single, locked-off camera position; and be accompanied by the ambient stereo recording from the location.
Upon acceptance, videographers will be paid a one-time fee for unlimited broadcast right on The Window Channel and any of its affiliates. There is potential for additional compensation as selected videos will be archived into an image bank made available to advertisers.
Exposure to a rapidly emerging HDTV audience is the main payoff for aspiring videographers and directors, the company describes, whose names will appear at the beginning and end of every video The Window Channel airs.
“Native HD programming is without a doubt going to play a big role in the future of television,” says company spokesperson, Tom Knight. “The hi-def format is approaching the same place market-wise that DVD technology was five or six years ago. The quality of the HD picture truly sells itself. The hyper-real, three-dimensional look of the image is fascinating. Once you’ve seen it, you’re hooked. The same is true with The Window Channel’s programming. It’s simply incredible to watch. Imagine standing on the rim of Haleakala Crater in Maui, Hawaii at 10,000ft watching the sunrise or sitting in with the crowd at an outdoor café along the Champs-Elysee in Paris.”
The Window Channel intends to create visual landscape and ambient imagery in hotel and office lobbies, nightclubs, waiting rooms, and at home by transforming TV sets into conversation pieces.
