JVC Europe Announces New DV Camcorder
January 18, 2005
London, UK - JVC Professional Europe has introduced the GY-DV5100E Professional DV camcorder (rear view pictured) featuring enhanced image quality and improved operational functions.
The camera is a European version of the recently announced GY-DV5100U Professional DV Camcorder.
Using a newly developed 24-bit digital signal processor (DSP), the signal-to-noise ratio has been significantly increased enabling the camcorder to produce clearer and more distinct images, the company reports. The GY-DV5100 also takes advantage of an integral 12-bit analog-to-digital converter to provide fine color detail throughout its 400 percent dynamic range.
The three-CCD camcorders offer sensitivity ratings of F13 at 2000 lx; a minimum required illumination of 0.2 lux at F1.4 with LOLUX, a horizontal resolution of 800 lines and an effective signal to noise ratio of 62 dB (camera head, no output), the manufacturer specifies.
As well, the new camcorders are easily integrated with an optional hard disk recorder, offering a disk capacity of 80GB, that docks to the rear of the camera via a 52-pin interface connector.
The rear panel incorporates the DV input select switch (for use with docked 52-pin hard disk drive) and two XLR audio sockets.
A GY-DV5100E camcorder package, with a 1.5 inch B&W viewfinder and Fujinon lens (S17 x 6.6BRM) is list priced at £4,950 (approx $9,268 USD); the suggested list price for the GY-DV5100U is $6,495 USD (prices subject to change without notice).
