Samsung Offers Dual-Cam, Detachable Wide Angle Camcorders

Las Vegas, NV - Samsung has unveiled new digital camcorders, with models featuring dual cam modes and detachable wide angle lenses.
Samsung's DuoCam combines still and video functions with a 680K CCD lens and 10x Optical Zoom/ 900x Digital Zoom that delivers hi-res video images with vibrant color resolution and detail. For still photography, the five megapixel CCD still lens delivers 2592 x 1944 pixel image resolution, for large size prints with maximum picture sharpness and color accuracy, the manufacturer describes.
An Instant ON feature means the camera is ready to go less than a second after the power button is pressed, while a new battery indicator displays the actual playing time and recording time left. Images and video can be played back on the built-in color LCD screen, and a playback zoom feature allows viewers to focus on a small section of an image. Slow Shutter and Nite Pix options allow for poor lighting conditions. Digital Image Stabilizer and a built-in flash keep stills and video bright and sharp. Program AE (auto-exposure) modes provide built-in recording optimization, automatically selecting the best combination of aperture and shutter speed for superior results.
A built-in Multi-Card Slot and USB 2.0 PC interface is used to store and transfer files using Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Secure Digital Cards or Multi-Media Cards.
The SC-X105L camcorder (pictured) sports a separate wide angle lens that can be used as the camcorder itself is in tucked away in a carrying case, reports indicate. Image stabilization, a 10X optical zoom and a 2" LCD support locatoin and extreme sports-type shooting applications. The unit features a 680,000-pixel CCD, 10X optical zoom for video 5-megapixel CCD, 3X optical zoom for stills Captures MPEG-4 movies (VGA, 30fps) USB 2.0 and PictBridge compatible.
The SC-6550 Compact DuoCam will be available in May 2005 for $800; the X105L is slated for March delivery at $650.
