WiebeTech Announces UltraGB Storage
January 11, 2005
Wichita, KS - WiebeTech has introduced its new UltraGB+ FireWire storage device, saying units are slated for delivery within a week.
The UltraGB+ is available in two versions: Dual Bus powered FireWire 800 (400 compatible) or dual bus powered FireWire 400. The only requirement is adequate power from the host FireWire port. Each version also includes a USB2 port (not bus powered), requiring an AC adapter (included). As a result, the UltraGB+ will attach to virtually any PC or Mac, the manufacturer describes.
The UltraGB+ is designed to be simple to use. If attached to an adequately powered FireWire host port, it will function just like any other desktop drive. All drives are 7200RPM, providing the same high performance of other desktop enclosures.
UltraGB+ FlexMount shock absorbers protect the hard drive, as well as data, from external bumps and vibrations. The aluminum case provides durability as well as heat dissipation. This also means quiet performance since vibration is prevented from reaching the drive and internal drive noise is isolated from the shell of the enclosure. In addition, operation is fanless for even quieter operation.
The LED power status system indicates that the drive is being accessed. If attached to AC power, the AC power will override and power the drive.
The manufacturer announced various configurations and price points:
