Multi-Camera Editing Tool for Final Cut Pro Available
January 06, 2005
Toronto, ON - The latest version of Live Cut, an open source solution for multi camera editing within the Apple Final Cut Pro environment, is now available.
Live Cut handles up to four cameras, and allows for editing in real-time, by simply switching between four synchronized and displayed sources, the developers describe. Cuts between cameras can be made on the fly, and then fine-tuned within the FCP timeline, as required. Transitions, titles, effects and filters can be added.
Among the features:
Four track synchronized multi camera viewing and editing
Large preview window
Editing in the timeline
Final Cut Pro XML export (as a file or directly into a FCP project)
Support for self contained and referenced QuickTime movies
Support for virtually all Final Cut Pro formats, from RT Offline to HD
Custom formats and export options can be added to /Library/Application Support/Live Cut/Export Templates/
Live Cut can run on older systems, such as 876 MHz G4 Powerbooks. However, G5 processors, Mac OS X 10.2 and FCP 4.1 with XML support are recommended. Up to four tracks are supported when captured footage is split across separate external hard drives. A gigabyte of RAM is recommended.
Available now for free download as a 0.9.91 beta version; the software is distrubuted under the GNU GPL (General Public License).
