December 29, 2004
Melbourne, Australia - DeckLink Multibridge is now shipping to customers worldwide, Blackmagic Design announced. It also released is DeckLink Multibridge Utility, a new software application to allow visual control of settings via USB connection.
DeckLink Multibridge handles all YUV video conversion in & out as well as composite NTSC/PAL including four channels of analog XLR professional audio in & out, and eight channels of AES/EBU audio in & out all on the one converter. DeckLink Multibridge also contains powerful processing features such as broadcast quality HD down conversion.
DeckLink Multibridge Utility v1.0 is compatible with both Mac OS X, and Windows XP, and uses an innovative rear connector view of DeckLink Multibridge so users can rapidly change settings via fast and easy to understand interface.
Decklink can connect analog decks such as Betacam SP to SDI, or it can be added to any editing and design workstation to get the ultimate SDI tethered breakout box. It also makes an ideal breakout box for editing and design workstations because it includes all types of connections, being fully dual rate HDTV and Standard Definition compatible it will move with users as they cross over to HDTV workflow, the company describes. Additional benefits when used as a breakout box include the ability to place it up to the full 300 feet SDI cable length from an editing station or to connect it via a routing switcher.
DeckLink Multibridge supports both analog and digital audio conversion. For analog, four channels in and out of balanced +4dB audio on standard XLR connectors is included as standard. Eight channels of AES/EBU digital audio in and out is also built in on an industry standard multi channel DB-25 connector. Analog or AES/EBU audio can be embedded and de-embedded into any SDI audio group in either HD-SDI or Standard Definition SDI.
It features a USB 2.0 connection on the front panel lets users change settings and fine tune video levels by plugging into the front of the converter. Our new DeckLink Multibridge Utility v1.0 allows users to see a graphical rear panel connector view so changing settings is simple and fast.
The unit is dual rate and operates in both Standard Definition and High Definition, while DeckLink Multibridge SD is a lower cost model that operates in Standard Definition only, important when HD support is not required.
DeckLink Multibridge providing HD and SD support is available now from Blackmagic Design Authorized Resellers worldwide for a recommended retail price of US$1,995. DeckLink Multibridge SD will be available in the New Year.
DeckLink Multibridge Utility v1.0 is available now from the Blackmagic Design website at no charge, and allows configuration and settings on all Multibridge models.
