Granite Digital Ships 3.2 Terabyte Storage System
December 29, 2004
Union City, CA - Granite Digital is shipping a new 3.2 Terabyte RAID 5 SATA Storage System, compatible with Macintosh, Windows, or Linux operating systems. Performance levels exceed most SCSI or Fiber Channel solutions while using inexpensive SATA drive technology, the company reports.
It has also unveiled an internal Hot-Swap SATA Backup System for Windows or Linux computers. The Hot-Swap system includes aluminum drive tray design, cables, and PCI host adapter.
The RAID 5 performs at between 400MB/s to 150MB/s, the company describes, for speed intensive operations like graphics, DV (digital video), and AV (audio video) applications.
Granite has designed this new RAID System to include Hot-Swappable Trays which monitor the drive’s temperature guaranteeing cool operation and reliability. The versatility does not end there because the system can also be used as a JBOD (just a bunch of drives) for easy backups, drive duplication and disk-to-disk copies. Also supported are hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, JBOD.
