Focus Releases New FireStore Software
October 05, 2004
Campbell, CA - New software for the FireStore portable hard drive record unit is now available from Focus Enhancements.
FireStore FS-3 features a disk drive slot for the FSHDD-1 removable FireWire disk drive (pictured) for longer record lengths, and can be mounted and powered via industry standard Anton/Bauer, V-Mount, PAG Lock or NP battery mount plates.
It is now possible to use FireStore FS-3 with Digital Betacam, BetcamSX, MPEG IMX, DVCPro50, HDCAM and DVCProHD camcorders utilizing Miranda DVC-100 and DVC-800 series converters. New control modes allow FS-3 recordings to be triggered by the camcorder.
Among the other new software features, FireStore FS-3 / DR-DV5000 version 1.3 firmware introduces three new file formats; Pinnacle AVI, 24p QuickTime and 24p AVI Type 2 (24p modes on FS-3 only). Pinnacle AVI allows users of Pinnacle Liquid Edition and other Pinnacle products to take advantage of the benefits of DTE Technology (direct to edit video does not have to be encoded or captured from tape before use in a compatible nonlinear editing system) . 24p QuickTime and AVI Type 2 allows FS-3 users who shoot with DV 24p camcorders such as the Canon XL2 and Panasonic DVX100 to record files to disk that can be used immediately in applications the support 24p edit modes such as Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas Video and in-sync Blade, the manufacturer reports.
