Linksys Wireless-G Internet Video Camera Available
October 04, 2004
Irvine, CA - Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems, Inc., announced availability of its Wireless-G Internet Video Camera (WVC54G).
The compact, self-contained unit sends a high-quality live video stream (up to 640 X 480) with sound through the Internet, the manufacturer describes, but unlike standard webcams that need an attached PC, the Internet Video Camera contains its own IP address, so users can easily connect to an existing Ethernet or Wireless network.
Advanced features of the Wireless-G Internet Video Camera include a Security mode. When the camera detects motion, it begins to record the video and audio feed and alongside sends an e-mail alert to the office, a pager or a cell phone. Up to three e-mail alerts can be sent simultaneously, including a short video clip in an email attachment.
The Internet video camera includes a Viewer & Recorder utility, which lets users record the audio and video stream with date and time stamp to a local hard drive “live” or on a predetermined schedule.
The Linksys Wireless-G Video Camera (WVC54G) is now available at an estimated street price of $199.
