LaCie Offers New DVD±RW Double Layer Drives
August 31, 2004
Portland, OR - LaCie's new double layer DVD burners, equipped with FireWire and USB interface options, are slated for availability in September.
With its thin profile and sleek design by F.A. Porsche, the LaCie Slim DVD±RW Double Layer is ideal for use with today's ultra-thin notebooks or to swap data between locations, the manufacturer describes. The drive's portability makes it easy to securely back up files on the road, share up to 8.5GB data with clients via DVD, and create and view personal DVDs from any location. DVD playback software allows for viewing movies on the road from any laptop. FireWire drives can operate with power from the cable meaning no extra AC adapter to carry when traveling.
For faster performance at home or away, the multi-format LaCie d2 DVD±RW Double Layer supports a full 4.7GB DVD burning in about six minutes, and double layer burning in only 25 minutes-less than half the time of first-generation double layer drives. An easy-to-use interface allows people to create DVD movies in a matter of minutes complete with menus, thumbnails and backgrounds. Made of sturdy aluminum alloy, this product is designed for desktop or mobile use.
Shipping begins September 2004 at manufacturer suggested retail prices below. The DVD burners come with comprehensive Mac or PC software suites for creating professional-quality DVDs. All necessary cables ship with the drives. Double layer DVD media is also available in 5-packs through LaCie for $69. For more information on LaCie DVD drives, visit the company website.
