Upgraded JVC DM-JV600U Encoded Provides 4:2:2 Color Sampling Support
August 12, 2004
Wayne, NJ - JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY plans to deliver its DM-JV600U high definition (HD) MPEG-2 encoder with an optional 4:2:2 color sampling upgrade.
JVC will offer customers 4:2:2 sampling, providing more color information with greater color accuracy and intensity in the video signal, at a price considerably lower than the nearest competitor, the company states. In addition, for a limited time, customers purchasing the DM-JV600U will receive the 4:2:2 upgrade, a $5,000 value, at no additional charge.
The 4:2:2 process achieves extremely high-quality HD imagery, with more realistic and life-like images than conventional HD 4:2:0 systems. With 4:2:2 support, the DM-JV600U encoder will provide twice the vertical chroma sampling for truer, richer color resolution. Broadcast outlets and news organizations desire the very high-quality 4:2:2 support for upstream applications such as backhaul and contribution, where a higher data rate (50 Mbps) secures the best possible signal and ensures the least amount of loss in the editing process.
The DM-JV600U is the world's first $25,000 HDTV encoder appropriate for cost-effective HD satellite backhaul and contribution as well as electronic news gathering (ENG) and electronic field production (EFP). With the DM-JV600U, broadcasters have the ability to capture and transmit HDTV content from across the street or around the world. A multi-format HDTV encoder featuring JVC's proprietary MPEG-2 encoding technologies, the DM-JV600U accepts SMPTE-292M HD-SDI signals and encodes them into HD MPEG-2 format and provides a transport stream (TS) through its two DVB-ASI interfaces.
In order to receive this limited-time free upgrade, customers must accept delivery of the DM-JV600U encoder between August 1, 2004 and December 31, 2004.
