Pioneer to Intro Dual-Layer DVR-A08XL

Long Beach, CA - Pioneer Electronics USA will introduce a new 16X DVD burner for dual layer DVD burning, industry reports indicate.
Pioneer's DVR-A08XL will record the first layer of a DVD-R or DVD+R disc at 16X, and the second layer at 4X, up from the 2.4X of previous models.
The new Pioneer drive writes to both DVD-R and DVD+R discs at 16X speeds, analysts indicate, rewriting to both DVD+RW and DVD-RW at speeds up to 4X. Dual-layer DVD-R write speeds have not been specified. The DVR-A08XL will come bundled with an assortment of DVD management software from Ulead, which includes Burn.Now 1.5, used to copy DVDs.
Reports indicate Pioneer will charge $179.99 when the new internal ATAPI drive goes on sale in August.
