HDTV Digital Video Recorder For the Mac

San Francisco, CA - EyeTV 500, the first high-definition television (HDTV) solution for Mac OS X, has been released by Elgato Systems.
EyeTV 500 allows users to watch, record, timeshift, edit and archive free over-the-air HDTV and digital standard-definition television (SDTV) on the Mac. EyeTV 500 is a FireWire-powered, 100% digital, fully HD capable solution, based on Elgato's proven EyeTV 400 technology.
EyeTV 500 allows users to:
- Watch free digital terrestrial television (ATSC) on their Mac.
- Pause, rewind or fast forward through television as they are watching.
- Record television to the Mac's hard drive, creating an archive of their favorite shows.
- Program EyeTV 500 through the manual control panel or Electronic Program Guide (EPG) from TitanTV. Users can even program EyeTV remotely via the Internet.
- Edit out unwanted content using EyeTV's built-in editor that easily identifies where programs and scenes start and stop.
- Archive programs to DVD or VideoCD, to play anywhere on most standard DVD players.**
Pricing & Availability
EyeTV 500 is available for $349 (USD) at Elgato's online store, at the Apple Store and in select retail stores throughout the US.
System Requirements
Macintosh computer with minimum PowerPC G4 500Mhz or G5 processor and built-in FireWire port; Mac OS X 10.2.8 or higher and 256MB of RAM (512MB recommended); and up to 8GB of hard disk space per hour of recorded HDTV. A dual G5 system is required for HDTV playback at full frame rate. An Internet connection is required to use TitanTV, EyeTV's optional Electronic Program Guide. EyeTV 500 further requires an antenna (not included) to receive the ATSC signals.
**A CD/DVD recorder and Roxio's Toast 6 Titanium software are required to create DVDs or VideoCDs.
