On-Camera Dimmable Light Unveiled
July 02, 2004
Hollywood, CA - 16x9 Inc. has introduced the new Lux dimmable on-board camera light from Bebob Engineering, which can be used as an on-board camera, handheld and/or stand-mounted light, without need for extra accessories or brackets.
Lux features both a standard 5600°K dichroic filter and special dichroic to balance the light at 4400°K for situations with a mix of daylight and halogen. Bulbs, with built in mirror and diffuser, are available at 20, 35 and 50W, and utilize IRS technology to deliver 30% more light than traditional bulbs, the manufacturer describes.
Lux is designed to vary its nesting position up and down or forward and back. This flexibility can avoid shadows created by a Rycote or a mattebox. A customized mounting clamp avoids rotation of the light from the camera handle.
Lux attaches in front of the camera handle so there is no interference with the camera when it is being carried. Lux also features a base-station with an integrated dimmer that can be left mounted on-camera, when the light is removed to reduce mounting time. Ther unit weights 295 g; with barndoors and dichroic filters, it weighs 365 g in total.
Prices for the basic Lux start at $375, with a kit including four barndoors, daylight filters, dichroic filter, diffuser, and cable priced at $580; an additional 4400°K dichroic filter is available as an option.
