Canopus Announces EDIUS 2.5

San Jose, CA - Canopus Corporation's EDIUS 2.5, the latest version of its nonlinear editing application, will be available at the end of June.
EDIUS 2.5 includes new features to better assist editors with their workflow and boost productivity, the manufacturer reports, such as the ability to select and move multiple clips, quickly apply filters and transitions to any number of clips simultaneously, merge EDIUS projects together, and a new cropping, scaling, repositioning tool for realtime aspect ratio conversions.
Also included in EDIUS 2.5 is Inscriber TitleMotion Pro for Canopus, an advanced titling application that delivers broadcast-quality text, graphics and effects; a new EDIUS keyboard customization applet that reconfigures keyboard commands so editors can work with familiar shortcuts and easily fit EDIUS into their current workflow.
EDIUS 2.5 can now import Canopus Imaginate 2.0 projects, as well as AIFF and Ogg Vorbis audio files, and includes a plug-in bridge that allows VST audio plug-ins to function as EDIUS audio filters.
EDIUS is a professional nonlinear editing application that redefines video production productivity with realtime, multi-format, multi-track editing. EDIUS features MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 editing and support for OHCI-compliant FireWire hardware. For the first time, editors can seamlessly edit, mix and output DV, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and uncompressed video with true realtime, render-free operation. EDIUS streamlines DVD-Video production by allowing editors to work in MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 format for realtime editing, effects compositing, keying, transitions and titles. Canopus's MPEG codec technology maintains the highest picture quality during every stage of the production process. EDIUS includes Inscriber TitleMotion Pro for Canopus for creating superior graphics, video titles and motion effects. EDIUS also features DVD-Video authoring directly from the timeline, with full chapter point support. While EDIUS supports any OHCI-compliant system, it is optimized for Canopus's DVStorm, DVRex RT and DVRaptor RT2 series of nonlinear editing solutions, providing additional realtime, render-free operation.
Availability and Pricing
The EDIUS 2.5 upgrade will be available as a free download or CD-ROM for registered users of EDIUS 2.0. Alternatively, EDIUS 2.0 users can purchase an upgrade pack, which contains a CD-ROM and printed manual, for $30.
EDIUS 2.5 will be available in July from Canopus, its authorized dealers and system integrators for a suggested retail price of $599. Owners of earlier versions of EDIUS can also purchase the EDIUS 2.5 upgrade at a reduced price.
