FOCUS Announces FireStore Software Enhancements
May 24, 2004
Campbell, CA - FOCUS Enhancements announced immediate availability of the FireStore FS-3 and FireStore DR-DV5000 version 1.2 software update.
Version 1.2 adds the unique Scene Marking feature, multiple folder support, loop record as well as many improvements to the system's performance. The new version is available as a free download from the FOCUS Enhancements website. Existing FireStore FS-3 and FireStore DR-DV5000 owners can update their units quickly and easily in the field, the company describes.
The version 1.2 software has added many new features and improvements requested by customers, most notably a Scene Marking feature. With Scene Marking, users can prename folders on disk with custom names and mark clips during record, playback or in 'stop' mode to be placed in folders for easy access during editing. Clips can be marked using the front panel or either the wired or infrared remote commanders. On a non-linear edit (NLE) system, the folder with the desired clips can easily be imported.
Additionally, version 1.2 introduces the loop record functionality, allowing footage to be recorded to an endless loop on available disk drive space. Loop record joins the existing Retro-Cache and Retro-Disk features to prevent the videographer from ever missing an important shot.
Version 1.2 software will also be included on all new FireStore FS-3 and DR-DV5000 units shipped.
FireStore DR-DV5000 (with a single 40GB HDD and Scene Marking remote commanders) is available for a US MSRP of $1,895. FireStore FS-3 (with a single 40GB HDD) is available for a US MSRP of $1,995. Wired and infrared Scene Marking remote commander's are also available for FS-3 for US MSRP's of $30 and $50 respectively.
