Wildform Releases Flix Pro 4
May 24, 2004

Venice, CA - Flix Pro 4, a new version of the industry standard Flix Flash video encoder, has been released by Wildform.

Flix Pro is a video authoring software that enables users to edit, crop, filter, encode and post video in a customized player in minutes. It offers multiple outputs, automated Flash functions, and support for older Flash players going back to version 3, as well as its unique ability to convert standard video into a vectorized animation.

A key feature of Flix Pro 4 is new FLV video output that can be played directly in the Flash Player, streamed through the Flashcom server, or imported into Macromedia Flash, the company describes. Flix's FLV output now also works seamlessly with the program's automatic player output feature, so users can easily add a custom player and a preloader to their new or previously encoded FLV and SWF files.

Flix encodes the following formats:
Video: avi, .dv, .mov/.qt, .mpeg, .mp4, .3gp, and for PC only: .asf/.wmv
Audio: .mp3, .wav, and for PC only: wma. For Mac only: .aiff
Still Image: jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .psd, .tif, .pic, .tga

Other important features in Flix Pro 4 include the addition of an FLV to SWF converter, an updated and easier to use interface, new outputs including screensavers and Linux projectors, new Flash functions such as file security, and new html publishing options.

Flix Pro's FLV output offers certain advantages over SWF video. For instance, FLV files do not have the 16,000 frame limit or RAM consumption issues of SWF files, and they provide superior performance when played from a CD-ROM. Flix Pro still outputs SWF video which offers features such as embedded Flash functions and greater player compatibility.

Flix Pro 4 is $149 and is available for Windows PCs running Win 98/ME/2000/XP.

The Mac version, for OS9.x and X.x will be available within three months, it was reported. The Flix Pro 4 upgrade is free for Flix Pro license holders who have purchased within the past three months. Upgrade pricing is available for customers who purchased previously.
