Montreal, QC - Miranda Technologies announced that Patrick Whittingham has joined the company's board of directors.
A highly respected contributor to the broadcast and high-technology sector, Whittingham recently retired as president of Sony Broadcast and Production
Systems Division, after a career of 28 years with the company in Canada and
the United States.
"Pat's deep understanding of the trends in the television broadcasting
industry, and his appreciation of IT and video technologies, will help us
to continue to innovate in line with the needs of the most demanding
broadcasters," said Miranda Technologies' CEO, Strath Goodship.
Whittingham has been involved in virtually every aspect of the broadcast
market, and has great experience in leading companies to greater
profitability through improvements in organizational operations and
strategies. His work with broadcast technologies includes significant
participation in the development of interactive television and digital
content distribution products, and in the launch of digital television.
In Canada, Whittingham was selected by the country's Heritage Minister to
represent both consumer and professional product manufacturers on the Task
Force on Implementing Digital Television in Canada. Companies including
Azcar, Panavision, Digital High Definition (DHD Inc.), Canadian Digital
Television, and Smart Toronto Board also have tapped his understanding of
the digital and high-definition markets as a board member.
He is a 1970 graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada with a BSc
(applied), and is a 2001 graduate of Sony's Global Leadership Program,
conducted by USC and Sony University. Whittingham returned home to Toronto
from the United States this spring following the conclusion of his tenure
at Sony.
