Miller Features ENG and DV at NAB
April 20, 2004
Las Vegas, NV - Miller is showing new camera support gear at NAB.
Its 100mm ENG camera support product, the SOLO VJ, is designed for 10 40lb camcorders, SOLO VJ boasts an amazing 1.9m (74) maximum height, and, due to its spreaderless design, goes down to a ground-hugging 22cm (8.7), the company describes. Existing telescoping tripod users will notice that Miller SOLO tubes do not rotate when tightened, making SOLO VJ both quicker and easier to deploy.
SOLO VJ weighs only 3.1kg (6.8lb) yet offers the typically high torsional rigidity of standard dual tube 2-Stage tripods. Neoprene upper tube covering provides excellent grip and weather protection, while spike/rubber feet, Air Cell carry strap and impact resistant soft case are included with each tripod.
Miller is also launching the Arrow 30, a fully featured 100mm ball levelling fluid head for 10-30lb DV/ENG camcorders.
Based on the higher capacity Arrow ENG head, Arrow 30 supports the new breed of lighter ENG camcorders from PD-170 through DSR-390 to Sonys new XDCAM PDW-530.
Featuring 7+7 selectable pan/tilt drag (plus 0) Arrow 30 offers smooth feather-light or ultra-heavy resistance drag to suit all shooting conditions. Selectable 4-position tilt counterbalance and 70mm sliding platform allow for the widest range of camera, lens and battery options, while the quick release camera plate ensures high speed tripod-to-shoulder re-positioning.
Positive calliper tilt and pan locks guarantee secure lock-off in any tilt or pan position, and the adjustable telescopic pan handle ensures smooth flowing action with the option to attach lens or camera remote controls.
There are six Arrow 30 systems to choose from, integrating both SOLO VJ carbon telescopic and Sprinter alloy or carbon Dual Lok 100mm ball levelling tripods with a complete range of spreader options.
