Collaborative Editing from EditShare
April 16, 2004
Allston, MA - EditShare LLC announces the introduction of its new EditShare system - the first affordable solution for networked media file storage and collaborative video editing. Based on patent-pending technology, EditShare has been designed specifically for workstations running standalone versions of Avid Xpress DV, Xpress Pro, and other leading nonlinear editing systems.
EditShare gives small to medium-sized workgroups (with up to 8 workstations) a safe and convenient way to simultaneously store and access a common pool of media files in a central networked location. For the first time, there's a collaborative editing solution available for those on any budget.
EditShare is the perfect solution for independent production companies - as
well as AV and public affairs departments - that want an effective tool for
letting a group of editors work on the same projects simultaneously. Equally
important, it's an economical solution for small to medium-sized news
operations that want to streamline workflow by giving multiple editors
access to a common pool of material (one editor can cut promos and teases
while another edits a story, without having to duplicate any media).
EditShare can be used on the sets of feature films when editors, directors,
and producers all want to look at materials during and after shooting. Users
can even store and access one stream of uncompressed video (1:1 - 8-bit) on
the network while up to two other workstations use DV material.
EditShare is a compact "turnkey solution." The basic system comes with a
Server, one terabyte of storage pre-configured for RAID 5, networking
equipment, cables, a battery backup, and software. EditShare can be unpacked
and installed in as little as 30 minutes and collaborative editing can begin
immediately.
Pricing begins at $10,000.
