Gefen Announces SDI to DVI Connectors
April 13, 2004
Las Vegas, NV - Digital displays equipped with DVI (digital visual interface) connectors to link to their sources can now be powered by SDI devices. A new Gefen Adapter connects digital video computers and sources that transmit through SDI (standard definition interface) to DVI displays.
The new SDI to DVI Adapter is housed in a small metallic unit that accepts SDI data and transmits it to the display through DVI. It works with multiple formats, including NTSC, PAL and SMPTE, and is compatible with most LCD, plasma and HD displays as well as video sources that output using SDI, including high definition SDI. HD resolutions supports up to 1080I.
As an added bonus, the Adapter is engineered for source switching. It accepts two SDI inputs that can be alternately accessed using just one DVI display.
Gefen’s SDI to DVI Adapter ($999) is currently available. Units may be purchased directly online or through a Gefen reseller, located around the country.
