Hitachi To Intro HDTV Broadcast and Production Camera
March 30, 2004
Las Vegas, NV - Hitachi Denshi America Ltd.’s Broadcast & Professional Group will introduce at NAB 2004 a low-cost, multi-format HDTV camera for broadcast, production and imaging professionals, the company has announced.
The company will also introduce the Z-2500, a low-cost, standard-definition DSP production camera that replaces the Z-2010A. The Z-2500 is a lighter, higher-performance version of its predecessor. The increased performance stems from a new Hitachi-engineered high-density digital processor that streamlines the Z-2500’s electronics and provides higher resolution and better picture quality while retaining its low price point.
In addition to the new Hitachi DSP processor, the Z-2500 features 12-bit analog-to-digital converters that increase the picture color-depth and dynamic range of the picture. Other performance specifications include 900 TVL resolution, high signal-to-noise ratio (65db), 2/3-inch CCDs, F11 sensitivity, digital shading compensation, high-chroma detail, flesh-tone masking, fully automatic flesh-tone detail correction, and power consumption of only 9.8 watts.
The compact, lightweight SK-31B (pictured) can be incorporated within indoor/outdoor cranes and tracking systems, mobile vehicles, and helicopters to capture live, high-definition action through a cost-reducing robotic system.
Hitachi takes high-definition imaging one step further by offering both native 720p and 1080i outputs within the SK-31B, eliminating the need for video signal manipulation through costly third party converters to achieve the desired format. Furthermore, the SK-31B can optionally incorporate a Hitachi up/down conversion module for switching between standard and high-definition formats on the fly.
The SK-31B offers a 2RU, half-rack width CCU (camera control unit) model (CU-3100) and a digital optical fiber system for exceptional video transmission quality. The camera can also be operated in self-contained mode through local power provision and using its HD-SDI output situated at the camera head. A new control panel provides direct connection to the camera head or CCU. All system components are fully compatible and can be used with the existing SK-3300 family.
Pricing for both will be announced at NAB 2004.
