Laird To Debut DV Converters, DV Signal Test Gear

ount Marion, NY - Inertia, a new multi-format video signal converter from Laird Telemedia, will make its debut at NAB 2004, the manufacturer has announced, along with the new GenDV test signal generator.
Inertia supports DV & SDI, bi-directional analog to DV conversion at the RS170A broadcast spec and bi-directional conversion of component, YC, composite and SDI between formats independent from DV, the manufacturer reports.
Inertia has all live format outputs (rear of unit pictured) which turns it into the ultimate interface tool for monitoring, splitting, recording and more. Inertia also contains features never before seen on a transcoder such as dual analog outputs for easy monitoring. The unit is housed in a desktop case with rackmount, and measures 3.5" H x 19"W x 11"D.

GenDV is an Analog & Digital DV (IEEE 1394) video and audio test pattern generator, capable of outputting signals in NTSC 3.58, NTSC 4.43, PAL, PAL-M, PAL-N and SECAM television standards.
An on-screen display indicates the standard selected. Fourteen basic test patterns are provided, including: Circle, 8-Step Grey Scale, 16-Step Grey Scale, Color Bar, Multiburst, Color Difference, Moving White Field, White Pattern, Checkerboard, Crosshatch, Dots, Center Cross and Purity Patterns. From these fourteen basic patterns, over one hundred individual test pattern signals can be derived. Simultaneous outputs include NTSC IEEE 1394 DV (PAL available), Component, Composite, S-Video and Dual Channel 1KHz Audio.
An optional rackmount kit is available.
