QuickStream DV Available from MCE
January 12, 2004
Las Vegas, NV - MCE has announced availability of the QuickStream DV, a portable, self-powered DV capture and record device that works via a camera's FireWire port. It recordds in different file formats (.MOV, .AVI, .DV, etc.) for use with Mac and Windows-based nonlinear editing and video manipulation programs, the manufacturer describes.
Built right into the bottom of the QuickStream DV's industrial-designed enclosure is a 1/4-20 screw-socket, for compatibility with a wide variety of mounting adapters. Also included is a hot shoe adapter for mounting directly
to a camera's accessory/hot shoe; the unit weighs 9 ounces. A belt clip adapter is also included in order to secure it to the operator's belt or other such location.
MCE StreamManager - The QuickStream DV, which functions as a regular FireWire hard drive when connected to your computer system, also includes MCE StreamManager footage organizing software for MacOS 10.2 (or later) or PC. (The software, the manufacturer reports, allows users to launch whenever a QuickStream DV is plugged into and detected by your system, instantly displays all clips recorded by the QuickStream DV, shows their durations and allows the user to preview, sort, rename, delete, copy or move those clips as well as instantly see how much recording time remains on the QuickStream DV.)
