Ulead Unveils New DVD Creation Software; Product Bundles

- Ulead Systems, Inc. has announced DVD MovieFactory 3 Disc Creator, a major upgrade of its PC consumer-level DVD creation software.
The company also announced a North American agreement with Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. to include its digital media software with the Pioneer DVR-A07, Pioneer’s new multiple format “8x8” DVD/CD internal writer.
The Ulead software suite provides consumers a complete set of rich and mature applications with advanced technology to easily and quickly transform videos into edited productions, create compelling DVD movies and photo slideshows, design eye-catching scrapbook pages, manage digital media files, and write data and music to disc, the company describes. The Pioneer DVR-A07 lets consumers focus on their digital productions and not technology by saving time with the fastest write speeds possible and eliminating confusion over which media to use with support for both DVD-R/RW and +R/RW discs.
The DVR-A07 is the world’s first 8x8 dual format writer, meaning it is capable of writing at 8x speed on high-speed DVD-R and +R discs that are designed for this recording speed. The new drive also records high-speed DVD-RW and +RW discs at up to 4x speed, and CD-R and CD-RW discs at up to 24x speed. By supporting the DVD Forum’s DVD-R and DVD-RW disc formats as well as the +R and +RW formats, Pioneer is helping to eliminate format confusion, which has become a growing problem for potential buyers.
DVD MovieFactory 3 Disc Creator offers a rich, integrated suite of DVD creation tools for all DVD and CD burning needs. The software makes it simple for anyone, from home users to business managers, to create polished DVD movies, photo slideshows and quickly burn music and data to disc. DVD MovieFactory 3 Disc Creator offers significant enhancements such as motion menus and chapter buttons with real-time preview, new audio features including Dolby AC-3 support, and enhanced video editing tools such as the ability to add transitions and text to videos and photos. The software provides extensive and in-depth compatibility for all DVD formats including video recorded on set-top DVD recorders and DVD camcorders.
DVD MovieFactory 3 Disc Creator supports all video formats including DVD-Video, DVD-VR, and DVD +RW (VR, the manufacturer describes). Users who own a set-top DVD recorder or a DVD camcorder now have a way to transfer video directly to a DVD where they can edit video and photos as well as create and modify a DVD menu or playlist. Using a simple disc copy function, it’s possible to quickly convert video recorded with a set-top DVD recorder to the DVD-video format to view on standard DVD players.
Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3 Disc Creator software will be available in mid-January for an estimated SRP of $99.95 in North American retail stores, catalogs and online. At the same time, DVD MovieFactory 3, a basic version of DVD MovieFactory, will be available as an electronic software download for an estimated SRP of $49.95.
