December 16, 2003
Irvine, CA - Fast Forward Video, Inc has unveiled new portable digital video recorders based upon its award winning Recon DVR video board. Designed for field use, they can be powered by either battery or direct DC input.
Based on FFV's award-winning Recon technology, this new offering -- code-named the "Covert DVR" -- is a highly portable, miniaturized stealth
DVR designed for mobile on-body or in-vehicle use in applications such as information gathering, surveillance, and law enforcement. The Covert DVR
measures just 1.5 in. x 3.25 in. x 6 in., serving as the ideal solution for mobile, in-the-field, video-recording applications.
In addition to small size and rugged construction, the new DVR provides up to nine hours of recording (any Y/C or composite camera input) and a
sleek 4:2:2 broadcast sampling rate for a superior picture quality compared with that of DV capture solutions. With fully integrated Motion JPEG
compression capability, the Covert DVR features video capture and playback at 60 fields per second resolution, greater than 550 lines with compression ratios ranging from 4:1 to 20:1.
Standard features include microphone audio input, line audio I/O, Y/C or composite video I/O, loop record, date/time stamp, time-lapse recording,
and secure or PC-viewable video files. Users can specify optional RS-422 control, as well as timecode sync input. Control panel options include
stop, play, record, forward, and reverse scanning. The Covert DVR is available with a battery-powered option.
