September 16, 2003
Park Ridge, NJ - Sony has announced an addition to its DVCAM product line-up with the DSR-PD170P (PAL version pictured), a hand-held, 1/3-inch 3-CCD DVCAM camcorder, at IBC 2003 in Amsterdam. The DSR-PD170P will be available to European customers in December 2003, according to Sony.
As well, Sony has confirmed for WEVA that an NTSC version is expected to be available in the United States, although a release date has not been determined.
Additional information, as available, will be featured in the next issue of Wedding & Event Videography (WEV) Magazine.
The compact camcorder is the successor to the DSR-PD150P and offers better video and audio quality than previous models, the manufacturer reports, and is easy to use making it applicable for event, corporate, broadcast and filmmaking scenarios.
It features a zoom lever and record start/stop button on a larger-sized handle, a larger viewfinder, 2.5- inch hybrid LCD panel, and lens hood for the use of the Wide Conversion Lens (VCL-HG0758), as standard in a two-tone color unit.
