Panasonic Intros Professional DVD Recorder
September 03, 2003

Secaucus. NJ - Panasonic's new DVD-RAM/R recorder, the LQ-DRM200, is now available.

The progressive-scan LQ-DRM200 offers a rear-mounted serial remote control terminal that permits it to be controlled externally as well as to confirm sent commands. The recorder features a BNC-type connector on the video output that allows it to easily connect to professional monitors. The LQ-DRM200 also has user-definable options including recording set-up at the proper levels. A user can add or subtract set up level at the input and output to avoid playback with a higher than normal black level

The LQ-DMR200 can record for up to six hours and provides four different recording speeds, varying in recording quality and length. Once video is recorded to DVD, it is instantly accessible and ready to view without having to search, rewind or fast forward. The DVD recorder allows users to easily navigate, edit scenes and create custom play lists of digital content on a DVD disc.

The LQ-DRM200 offers a DV input for simple, direct connect to a digital video camcorder, and then utilizes its Automatic Recording function to begin recording, along with a programmable auto renewal recording function that can be programmed to automatically record video, such as a satellite feed, at a specific time daily or weekly.

To facilitate the use of still images in a presentation or program, the recorder has a built-in SD Card and PC card slot to enable users to incorporate digital images from an SD Memory Card, MultiMedia Card, Compact Flash, Smart Media and other flash memory cards.

The Panasonic recorder offers a Time Slip feature that allows users to watch a program in progress from the beginning, while the program continues to record to the end. The unit's Time Slip button permits a user to go back to a desired scene during recording. A Direct Navigator function displays a list of recorded programs on each disc for an at-the-glance confirmation of contents.

The Playlist Playback function allows the arrangement and saving of an original scenario from among the scenes already recorded. With its Quick View function, rapid viewing (1.3 times normal speed) of DVD recordings with audio is possible. Other key functions of the 8.6-pound recorder include DVD-Audio playback, hybrid VBR recording, linear PCM audio recording, and mistake-free recording and play.

In addition to recording new video content, the LQ-DRM200 facilitates the transferring of VHS tape recordings to space-saving DVD-RAM or DVD-R disks. To improve video quality in analog-to-digital transfers, the recorder has a built-in time base corrector, 3D Y/C separation circuitry and 3D digital noise reduction.

DVD-RAM offers high storage capacity on removable media, high-speed data transmission, exceptional picture and sound quality, fast, random access memory and
re-writability up to 100,000 times. DVD-R disks are highly compatible and playback in virtually all DVD players. Video libraries can be archived, preserved, and easily cataloged and accessed on DVD.

The LQ-DRM200 is available at a suggested list price of $995.
