nNovia Ships QuickCapture DV-to-Disk Recorder
August 23, 2003

San Jose, CA - nNovia Inc. is now shipping QuickCapture, a portable IEEE-1394 DV-to-Disk recorder.

QuickCapture is the first product to ship under the nNovia brand. QuickCapture will be demonstrated at WEVA's Wedding & Event Video Expo in Las Vegas, NV, to be held August 26-28, 2003.

Compact and lightweight, QuickCapture can be worn on a belt with the included belt bag and battery or purchased with Anton-Bauer Gold Mounts and attached directly to a camera, the manufacturer describes. It is available in 40-GB, 60-GB and 80-GB models, providing up to 6 hours of total recording time for NTSC or PAL material.

QuickCapture completely supports both SBP-2 and AV/C protocols, allowing it
to be connected directly to DV cameras as well as to computers and
standalone editing systems. QuickCapture can be operated as a VTR or as a
directly connected disk drive containing "edit-ready, render-free" AVI
Type-2 material. This "dual personality" provides QuickCapture users with
additional flexibility as they create and edit their material.

When connected to a DV camcorder, QuickCapture allows source material to be
"organized as it is being acquired" into separate "bins," saving time and
money in the post-production process. Up to 99 bins can be used for storing
up to 128 individual clips in each bin, reducing or eliminating traditional
written logs. All of the clips contain camera time code and drop marks can
be added for quick reference or rough cut editing during the recording
process.

In a traditional computer-based editing environment, QuickCapture is seen
as a standard 1394 disk drive and provides instant access to recorded
content. Individual clips are preserved in the AVI Type-2 file format and
appear as discreet files with individual storage bins appearing as file
folders.

QuickCapture also supports the complete AV/C protocol, allowing it to be
instantly and seamlessly connected to standalone editing systems for full
operation exactly as you would operate a VTR. Users of these systems now
have a way to capture footage on a "tapeless VTR" and then plug it directly
into their systems with full functionality.

QuickCapture is available for immediate delivery. Pricing begins at under
$1000.
