Adobe Announces New Desktop Video Applications
July 07, 2003

San Jose, CA - Adobe Systems Incorporated has announced a major expansion and upgrade to its DV product family, with new products and bundles for video and audio editing, compositing, effects, and DVD authoring on the Windows platform.

To be released in August, new programs include Premiere Pro, the newest version (7.x) of the popular nonlinear editing program. An enhanced Affter Effects package, the new Encore DVD authoring program, and Audition, the rebranded Adobe version of Cool Edit Pro, have also been unveiled.

Available separately, these products also can be purchased as the Adobe Video Collection, which also includes Photoshop 7.0, the digital imaging standard.

Adobe will offer two editions of the Adobe Video Collection for Windows: Professional and Standard. The Professional edition of the Adobe Video Collection includes Adobe Audition, Adobe Encore DVD, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects (Professional edition) and Photoshop 7.0: delivering tools for editing digital images; designing motion graphics and visual effects; real-time video and audio editing; and DVD authoring. The Standard edition does not contain Photoshop and comes with After Effects (Standard edition) for basic video and audio production. Both versions of the collection offer tremendous cost savings over purchasing the products separately and allow users to expand their professional knowledge by adding new tools to their repertoire.

With this new Adobe workflow, professionals can transform video and audio into compelling stories, in a render-free editing environment beginning with Adobe Premiere Pro is a render-free editing environment, the manufactrurer describes.

The software has been redesigned with productivity enhancements and professional tools that take advantage of the speed of Intel Pentium- based systems running Windows XP. Layered digital images for video can be created with Photoshop, and then transferred to After Effects to design motion graphics and visual effects using powerful compositing tools. Adobe Audition joins the digital video product family to provide a complete multi-track recording studio to efficiently create professional-quality audio, which can be exported to Adobe Premiere Pro projects, Adobe After Effects compositions, or Adobe Encore DVD, to author interactive multi-language DVDs.

Pricing and Availability
The Standard and Professional editions of the Adobe Video Collection for Windows XP are expected to ship in the U.S. and Canada by the end of August 2003. The Adobe Video Collection will be available for an estimated street price of US$999 for the standard edition and an estimated street price of US$1499 for the professional edition. For the first 30 days, Adobe will offer a special introductory price of US$799 for the standard edition of the Adobe Video Collection.
