LaCie Offers Pocket-sized DVD Drive for Mobile Burning and Authoring

Portland, OR - LaCie is now shipping its new portable PocketDVD-RW Drive equipped with FireWire interface. The company also announced a new dual compatible DVD+/-RW drive that incorporates both FireWire and USB 2.0 connectivity (d2 form DVD-RW model pictured).
The LaCie PocketDVD-RW drive weights 1.4 pounds and ships with recording software for Macintosh operating systems, including Roxio Toast Lite for CD and DVD recording and CaptyDVD for full-featured DVD authoring.
Offering storage capacity of up to 4.7GB, DVD general use discs are capable of storing as many as 1,000 MP3 songs, up to two hours of MPEG-2 DVD video, and as many as 500,000 documents. Durable, write-once DVD discs offer a reliable means of safely storing and archiving digital audio, video and data that cannot be erased or altered.
Perfect for burning music tracks and compiling MP3s, the LaCie PocketDVD-RW Drive features a 2MB buffer and reads most CD and DVD formats. Functioning as an all-in-one recorder, this drive also offers CD-RW capabilities, and will burn a full 700MB disc in just five minutes. The LaCie PocketDVD-RW Drive reads CDs at 24x speed, allowing for fast data access and file retrieval.
The new dual compatible DVD+/-RW drive incorporates both USB and FireEWire connectivity, and ships with Pixela's CaptyDVD, a full-featured authoring software for Mac users offering seamless DVD creation capabilities, this combination drive is versatile and durable. Designed for video, archiving and audio use, the LaCie Dual DVD RW Drive can be used while connected to a MAC or PC.
The LaCie Dual DVDRW Drive has given consumers confidence when purchasing a DVD drive, supporting both DVD-RW and DVD formats, as well as, the ability to burn CD-R and CD-RW.
