Adobe Acquires Leading Audio Application
May 21, 2003
San Jose, CA - Adobe Systems Incorporated has agreed to acquire the technology assets of Syntrillium Software, a leader in digital audio tools.
Syntrillium's flagship product, Cool Edit Pro, will join Adobe's existing line of professional digital video products, including Premiere, After Effects, Encore DVD and Photoshop.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Adobe expects the acquisition will not have a material impact to earnings per share in Q203 or FY03.
Introduced in 1997, Cool Edit Pro features support for up to 128 audio tracks; advanced loop mixing; unmatched wave editing power; professional DSP effects, mastering and analysis tools; audio restoration; a multi-channel encoder for surround sound; as well as DirectX, MIDI and video support. During the transition, Syntrillium products can still be purchased from the company's website.
