Heydar Adel, Online Editor of Emmy-Winning '24' to Speak at WEVA EXPO
July 22, 2006
Sarasota, FL - Heydar Adel, online editor of the Emmy-winning Fox TV series 24, critically acclaimed for its groundbreaking real time style, innovative camerawork and split-screen visuals, will be a featured speaker at this year's WEVA EXPO 2006 (Aug. 21-24) in Las Vegas, NV.
Presented by WEVA International and sponsored by Avid Technology, Adel’s presentation, CUTTING EDGE CREATIVITY: The Art of On-Line Editing the Award-Winning 24, just added to the EXPO program schedule for Tuesday August 22, is a rare opportunity for professional videographers and editors to discover cutting-edge post-production techniques from one of Hollywood’s leading-edge editors.
Famous for its split-screens that present multiple story lines in real time, day-in-the-life style, 24 is a breakthrough series that continues to keep audiences worldwide on the edge of their seats. In its first four seasons, 24 has earned multiple awards, including Emmys for writing and editing.
"The special appearance of Heydar Adel set for this year’s EXPO will give WEVA attendees an up close view into extraordinary techniques, applications and styles that are changing the face of television and movie editing," said John Zale WEVA International’s Director of Educational Development.
"The EXPO, now in its 16th year, has built a reputation of announcing original and exciting, ‘outside the box’ programs right up to Opening Night. Videographers will see how Adel sculpts his unique style for 24 and how he brought Hollywood techniques into his own wedding video. And like 24, this is going to be an edge of your seat presentation!"
In addition to 24, Adel is also the online editor of popular television shows such as Fox TV's “Bones,” “Without a Trace” on CBS, and ABC’s “The Nine.” He has also worked on numerous other popular shows, including “The West Wing” and “The Drew Carey Show.”
Adel holds a degree in Film Studies from UC Irvine and began his editing career while still in school. He built his own nonlinear editing system and did work on the side cutting Persian music videos and weddings. This portfolio helped him land a job at a well-established post house in southern California where he now uses the Avid DS Nitris system. And, he continues to do special interest projects using Avid Xpress Pro software. Adel’s special presentation at WEVA EXPO 2006 will be an unparalleled opportunity to see and learn from one of the contemporary pioneers in television editing.
