WEVA Organizes Disaster Response
September 01, 2005
Sarasota, FL - WEVA International Chairman Roy Chapman today announced the appointment of Tim Sudall, past-president of the GPVA, as chairman of WEVA’s Disaster Response Committee to coordinate efforts to respond to the special needs of videographers in the areas affected by the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
In making today's announcement, Chapman said there has already been a tremendous response from videographers to the industry outreach bulletin WEVA issued yesterday.
“The Committee's immediate task will be to gather information and determine the best ways to help videographers who are in need of special assistance, including housing, business support, and direct financial assistance,” said Chapman.
“In this time of national tragedy,” said Sudall, president of Video One Productions (PA), “we must all come together and support our fellow videographers whose lives have been profoundly impacted by Hurricane Katrina. We have all seen first-hand the devastation and the personal suffering felt by everyone who was in the path of the storm."
To help provide financial assistance, the Committee, Sudall said, "will work to establish a separate relief fund, Videographers In Distress (VID), that can aid videographers (WEVA members and non-members) directly. All proceeds from this effort will go directly to benefit videographers in the regions affected by the hurricane disaster.” Sudall said more details regarding the special aid fund will be announced shortly.
WEVA International members appointed to the newly-activated Committee to help coordinate the relief effort, Sudall said, include: John Goolsby of Cannon Video Productions-Riverside, CA; Brooke Rudnick of Marc Smiler Video Artist-Langhorne, PA; Brett Culp of The CVP Experience-Tampa, FL; and Drew DeMarinis of Tangerine Media Group-Conshohocken, PA.
WEVA International has already opened a Hurricane Disaster-Industry Outreach Forum where videographers are posting information and offers of support.
Videographers, both members and non-members, who can offer their assistance to help in the recovery effort are asked to contact the WEVA International office at 941-923-5334 or by email to [email protected].
