FCC Moves Up Deadline for Digital-Ready TVs

Washington, DC - The FCC has voted to speed up the deadline for making medium-sized TVs digital-signal ready, according to the Associated Press (AP). Voting 4-0, the FCC yesterday declared medium-sized TV sets must be digital-signal ready by March 1, 2006.
Medium-sized TVs, those with screens from 25 to 36 inches, must be capable of receiving both digital and traditional analog signals by March 1, about four months ahead of the schedule decreed three years ago. AP also said regulators are insisting that half of all new medium-sized TV sets be digital-signal ready by July 1.
