Submit Nominations for WEVA Service to Industry Awards Now - Deadline April 30

Sarasota, FL - Every year, the Wedding & Event Videographers Association International (WEVA) honors the exceptional achievements and service to industry of its members by bestowing several WEVA Special Awards. The 2005 "WEVA Call for Nominations" has been issued on the WEVA International website and the association invites all members to submit nominations for consideration by the WEVA Special Awards Committee. The deadline for this year's nominations is midnight (EST),
April 30, 2005.
The association's Special Awards will be presented this summer at the WEVA 15th Annual Wedding & Event Video Expo on Monday, August 8, 2005 as part of the convention's Opening Night Premiere events. The 2005 list of WEVA honorees will also be published in Wedding & Event Videography magazine, the official association publication for WEVA International members.
Any WEVA International member may nominate another for the Walter Bennett Service to Industry Award, the Bob LeBar Vision Award, the WEVA 911 Community Service Award, and may nominate professional videographers for induction into the WEVA International Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame.
The 2005 nomination forms are now online at the WEVA Special Awards Lobby area where there is also a roll call list of every previous WEVA Special Award honoree and WEVA Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame inductee.
The WEVA International Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame opened in August 2000 at the WEVA 10th Annual Wedding & Event Video Expo with the unveiling of the Hall's historical "Tools and Technology" exhibit. This special industry preservation exhibit displayed professional video recording equipment dating back to the very beginning of professional wedding and event videography, and included industry memorabilia from videographers commemorating the history of our profession.
The following year, At WEVA EXPO 2001, WEVA International announced the first WEVA Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame induction of videographers whose contributions to the professional wedding and event video industry nurtured its growth.
The Walter Bennett Service to Industry Award, named in memory of the pioneering videographer and local association founder from Tulsa, OK, was introduced in 1999. This Special Award honors the WEVA International member who, through donation of time, through service to fellow videographers by teaching or writing, by service in a local association or on a national level, strives for exemplary professionalism that lights a pathway for other videographers to follow.
The Bob LeBar Vision Award, which was introduced in 2000, is named in honor of the groundbreaking video animator from Hartsdale, NY. The award recognizes the WEVA International member who has made innovative contributions to the development of the professional wedding and event video community by advancing unique ideas, and invoking a keen sense of entrepreneurial spirit, together with a strong sense of professional pride, raising the "bar" to new heights.
The WEVA 911 Community Service Award, was established in 2003 to remember the sacrifices on September 11, 2001, and in recognition of the fact that “911” is a universal call for help. The award is an acknowledgment of an exemplary response by a WEVA International member in using their professional skills as a wedding and event videographer to be part of a solution or resolution to a particular community situation.
