WEVA Town Meeting Tour, Institute Dates Announced
December 19, 2001

Sarasota, FL - The complete schedule of the cities and dates for the 5th Annual WEVA Town Meeting Tour, including the all-new WEVA Institute, has been announced.

“The WEVA Institute raises the level of professional wedding and event video education,” according to WEVA Chairman Roy Chapman. “WEVA members have asked for more in-depth programming, and that’s what the WEVA Institute adds to the
Town Meeting Tour.” Town Meeting Tour Director Tim Ryan added, “The WEVA Institute will present at least nine programs in every 2003 Town Meeting Tour city. Popular WEVA EXPO seminars will be expanded, running from two to four hours, as part of the WEVA Institute.”

WEVA Creative Excellence award-winner Lance Gray, from PixelPops Design/Blue Sky Media Group in Richardson, TX will present a three-hour long PhotoShop program in each WEVA Institute city. Also on the workshop schedule in every WEVA Institute city will be extensive, system-specific training classes hosted by the four Town Meeting Tour sponsors, Sony, Panasonic, JVC, and MacroSystem US. All of these extended programs, begun at EXPO 2002, are a result of WEVA member requests.

Kick-off for the 2003 Town Meeting Tour will be in New York City. WEVA Institute workshops will be on February 12 and 13, while the Town Meeting and Sponsor’s Reception will be held on Wednesday, February 12. In addition to Lance Gray, the scheduled WEVA Institute presenters are Maureen Bacon (Impact Images, Westminster, CO), Mike Nelson (Remember When Videos, Salt Lake City, UT), Tom Teneriello (PMV Productions, Hudson, NH), and Luisa Winters (Unforgettable Events, Odenton, MD). The WEVA Institute also include workshops hosted by Sony, Panasonic, JVC, and MacroSystem US.

As always, the Town Meeting and the Sponsor’s Reception will be free, with advance registration (a fee may apply for on-site registrations). Free, on-line registration will be available soon at www.weva.com. A modest fee will apply to some of the WEVA Institute workshops, with special discounts available only to WEVA members.

In New York, the Town Meeting/Institute will be part of WEVA Week 2003. This is a series of events, which will include a bridal media reception, Local Association President’s Council meeting, and a camcorder development committee meeting. The Town Meeting and Institute events will be held at the world-famous New Yorker Hotel.

Following New York City, the WEVA Town meeting Tour will touch down in Orlando, FL, for events on February 18 and 19. As in New York, WEVA Institute workshops will cover both days, and the Sponsor’s Reception and Town Meeting will be held on the first day, February 18. Joining Lance Gray as WEVA Institute presenters are Randy Stubbs (Silver Star Enterprises, San Diego, CA) and Tim Sudall (Video One Productions, Havertown, PA). The agenda will also include workshops from Sony, Panasonic, JVC, and MacroSystemUS.

Since the WEVA Orlando Town Meeting/Institute programs will be held during
President’s week, WEVA has worked to obtain extended discounted room rates for all attendees. The Sheraton World Resort will offer those rates from February 14 to 22, so that attendees can enjoy an Orlando vacation with their families, along with their education.

After Orlando, the Tour continues in Chicago on February 25-26. The WEVA events will be held at the Sheraton Chicago Northwest, in Arlington Heights, IL. WEVA Institute workshops will be held on both dates, with the Sponsor’s Reception and Town Meeting being held on February 25. Along with Lance Gray, the scheduled WEVA Institute presenters are Maureen Bacon, Mike Nelson, and Sponsor workshops from Sony, Panasonic, JVC, and MacroSystemUS.

The final WEVA Institute segment will be part of the Anaheim Town Meeting on March 5-6, at the WestCoast Anaheim Hotel. With a central location designed to be convenient for professional videographers throughout all of Southern California, the hotel is adjacent to the Anaheim Convention Center and only one block from Disneyland. Keeping the same format as in the earlier cities, WEVA Institute workshops will cover both days, with the Sponsor’s Reception and Town Meeting to be held on March 5. Lance Gray, Sony, Panasonic, JVC, and MacroSystem US will present their final programs, and the WEVA Institute will also feature Tim Sudall, Tom Teneriello, John Goolsby (Canon Video Productions, Riverside, CA), and Luisa Winters.

Wrapping up the 2003 Town Meeting Tour will be a Sponsor’s Reception, to be held at Ballys Las Vegas during NAB, on April 8. Ballys, which will be the site of WEVA EXPO 2003, will host the reception, with a modified Town Meeting-style presentation, due to all of the NAB events.

Something special has been added to the New York and Anaheim Institute events. For the first time ever, WEVA will host one workshop in those two cities entirely in Spanish! Responding to many member requests, WEVA will offer educational programming to the Hispanic professional videographer community.

Complete information about the programs for the 2003 WEVA Town Meeting
Tour/WEVA Institute will be released shortly. Advance registration will be open on-line at www.weva.com soon. Late, on-site registrations will result in additional fees, and some programs will have limited capacity. Early registration will ensure your admission to these outstanding programs.
