BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! Goes International
June 28, 2005

Sarasota, FL - "Videographers will discover wedding creativity spotlighted in a-world-without-borders when BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! goes totally international at WEVA EXPO 2005."

This August, WEVA International, the world leader in professional development for wedding & event videographers, will unveil a new world of incredible wedding video editing creativity in the first-ever international BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS: World Cup Wedding Editing!

This special presentation heading to the 15th Annual Wedding & Event Video Expo (August 8-11) will feature the United States, Australia, Mexico, and the United Kingdom in an all-new Battle of the Wedding Editing Styles!

“Awesome wedding video creativity and techniques are not limited geographically – and that’s abundantly clear from previous WEVA EXPOs,” said John Zale, Director of Educational Development at WEVA.

“This year," he said, "videographers will discover new wedding creativity spotlighted in a world without borders when BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! goes totally international at WEVA EXPO 2005. Creative editing has become a key ingredient of today’s top-quality wedding work. This special EXPO program will present an all-new, and inspiring way to energize your creative juices. It will touch the imagination and I believe the hearts, of every professional videographer who attends. Many dedicated efforts and the sheer talent of WEVA International members worldwide is making this happen, for the first time ever, and we couldn’t be more excited!”

Zale said more details will be released next week when WEVA EXPO 2005 registration opens online at www.weva.com. Today’s WEVA EXPO sneak-peak follows WEVA's earlier announcement of the BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS: Anniversary Concept Video Shoot-Out, featuring Jody & John Goolsby, one of WEVA’s legendary husband & wife teams, as the subject of the special Shoot-Out.

For the first time ever, challengers at WEVA EXPO 2005 (August 8-11) will leap beyond bridal Love Story productions to compete in the all-new "Anniversary Concept Video Shoot-Out," which will test the camera skills, production style, and editing techniques of creative videographers as they independently prepare and produce their own unique, stand-alone Anniversary Video for this real-life couple celebrating their real-life 25th wedding anniversary!

WEVA EXPO 2005 attendees will see the world premier of each challenger’s video production in the WEVA EXPO BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS Theater at the world famous Las Vegas Hilton.

"For the 'Anniversary Concept Video Shoot-Out' each videographer’s shooting style (shot on-location in southern California), production design elements, and post-editing techniques will be analyzed live on stage using unique, behind-the-scenes footage of each challenger shot on-the-job," said Zale.

Plus, Q&A discussions with the challengers will reveal how and why special shots, subjects, images, audio elements, interviews, production locations, and editing effects were selected (including what got left on the “cutting-room floor”).

Anniversary Concept Videos have been a lucrative, but little known niche market in professional videography. At WEVA EXPO 2005, videographers will learn the secret to producing and selling a creative concept video for which virtually every videographer has a built-in market that renews itself, like a financial annuity, year after year.

Zale also added that the third segment in this original WEVA series will be the BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS: VIDEO/PHOTO MONTAGE presentation. This special program will feature leading videographers who have been given the exact same set of photographs, plus--new this year: video footage along with the photos, to produce a breakthrough montage production using creativity unlimited!

At the world premier of each montage production, the challengers will not only screen their final work, but will also answer questions in a roundtable forum that focuses on HOW the effects and integration of both photos and video footage was achieved.

WEVA International changed the landscape of professional development education for wedding and event videographers when the association originated and developed the first BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! program and introduced the "Love Story Shoot-Out" at WEVA EXPO 2003.

“This August, in honor of the EXPO's 15-year milestone, WEVA International is making history once again by introducing all-new production concepts into BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! It’s going to be an unparalleled contest of camerawork, editing techniques, editing styles, and post-production creativity like our industry has never seen before," Zale said.

"Not only will you see the original wedding footage and final productions of each challenger compared side-by-side, you will also learn HOW each videographer did the effects, HOW they created their unique style and approach. It's going to be the type of 'behind-the-scenes,' how-to session that videographers always want to see, but rarely get the chance," said Zale.

At WEVA EXPO 2005, Zale notes the BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! challengers will be attending the convention and available for networking and questions throughout the show. "It's the best and most exciting opportunity of the year to expand your skill-set and your video artistry, and find out what you really want to know," he said.

"The BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! series scheduled for WEVA EXPO 2005 is just one awesome element of a incredible line-up that includes over 70 cutting-edge seminars, workshops, demonstrations, 'hands-on' trade show exhibits with software-specific training all targeted to professional wedding & event videogaphers...plus there will be the all-new WEVA HD Weddings Theater,” said WEVA International Director of Association Communications Dan Argenas.

“Anyone who is working in our rapidly-changing industry today, including those looking to plan now for the HD transition, will want to be at this year's special convention," Argenas said. "Launched back in 1991, EXPO was the first, and is still the best show in the world for professional wedding & event videographers.”

Admission to WEVA EXPO 2005 is open to both WEVA members and non-members. WEVA International members receive special discount admission.
