Goolsbys Selected as Shoot-Out Subject for New 'Anniversary Video Battle' at WEVA EXPO 2005
June 16, 2005
Sarasota, FL - WEVA International changed the landscape of professional development education for wedding and event videographers when it originated the BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! program and introduced the Love Story Shoot-Out at Wedding & Event Video Expo 2003.
This August, in honor of the EXPO's 15-year milestone, WEVA International is making history once again by introducing an all-new production concept into BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS!
For the first time ever, WEVA EXPO 2005 (August 8-11) challengers will leap beyond bridal Love Story productions to tackle BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS: Anniversary Concept Video Shoot-Out, featuring Jody & John Goolsby, one of WEVA’s legendary husband & wife teams, as the subject of the Shoot-Out.
While it’s the 15-year hallmark for EXPO, this year marks the Goolsby’s 25th wedding anniversary.
Selected as this year’s special Shoot-Out Couple, the Goolsbys (and their family members) will be the subject of a never-before-seen BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! segment that will test the camera skills, production style, and editing techniques of creative videographers as they independently prepare and produce their own unique, stand-alone Anniversary Video for this real-life couple celebrating their real-life 25th wedding anniversary!
WEVA EXPO 2005 attendees will see the world premier of each challenger’s Anniversary Video side-by-side in the WEVA EXPO BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS Theater at the world famous Las Vegas Hilton.
"Each videographer’s shooting style (shot on-location in southern California), production design elements, and post-editing techniques will be analyzed live on stage using unique, behind-the-scenes footage of each challenger shot on-the-job," said WEVA International Director of Education John Zale.
Plus, Q&A discussions with the challengers will reveal how and why special shots, subjects, images, audio elements, interviews, production locations, and editing effects were selected (including what got left on the “cutting-room floor”).
"As an added bonus, attendees will also learn how the Goolsbys weathered the video 'pioneer days' and grew their premier video business, and an exceptional family closeness, within their successful marriage of 25 years," said Zale. "It’s a ground-breaking presentation for BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! that wedding & event videographers nationwide and around the globe won’t want to miss!"
Anniversary Concept Videos have been a lucrative, but little known niche market in professional videography. At WEVA EXPO 2005, videographers will learn the secret to producing and selling a creative concept video for which virtually every videographer has a built-in market that renews itself, like a financial annuity, year after year.
WEVA's 2005 program will also feature comments and reaction from the Goolsbys themselves regarding the experience overall -- an amazing reversal of roles that placed them in front, instead of behind the camera, for a breathtaking journey into the inspiring world of Concept Video creativity. Which creative videographer will be the winner? YOU be the judge!
Coming to WEVA EXPO 2005 are two other incredibly exciting segments in the BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! series, Zale related.
The BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS: PHOTO/VIDEO MONTAGE presentation will feature leading videographers who have been given the exact same set of photographs, plus--new this year: video footage along with the photos, to produce a breakthrough montage production using creativity unlimited!
At the world premier of each montage production, the challengers will not only screen their final work, but will also answer questions in a roundtable forum that focuses on HOW the effects and integration of both photos and video footage was achieved.
WEVA EXPO 2005 will also see the anticipated return of BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS: BATTLE OF THE WEDDING EDITING STYLES program. The new challengers for 2005 are taking on an all-new sequence of wedding day footage.
"It’s an unparalleled contest of editing techniques, editing styles, and post-production creativity like you’ve never seen before," Zale said.
"Not only will you see the original wedding footage and final productions of each challenger compared side-by-side, you will also learn HOW each videographer did the effects, HOW they created their unique style and approach. It's going to be the type of 'behind-the-scenes,' how-to session that videographers always want to see, but rarely get the chance," said Zale.
At WEVA EXPO 2005, Zale notes the BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! challengers will be attending the convention and available for networking and questions throughout the show. "It's the best and most exciting opportunity of the year to expand your skill-set and video artistry, and find out what you really want to know!"
At WEVA EXPO 2005, WEVA International will again prove that comparing creative techniques and production styles side-by-side, coupled with actual behind-the-scenes footage of the videographers on-the-job is an awe-inspiring (and fun!) way to quickly learn and absorb new skills that will improve your own video artistry -- both on-location and in post-editing.
"The BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! series set for this year’s convention is just one awesome element of a entire conference program that includes over 70 cutting-edge seminars, workshops, demonstrations, 'hands-on' trade show exhibits with software-specific training all targeted to professional wedding & event videogaphers...plus there will be the all-new WEVA HD Weddings Theater,” said WEVA International Director of Association Communications Dan Argenas.
“Anyone who is working in our rapidly-changing industry today, including those looking to plan now for the HD transition, will want to be at this year's special convention," Argenas said. "Launched back in 1991, EXPO was the first, and is still the best show in the world for professional wedding & event videographers.”
