WEVA 12th Annual Creative Excellence Competition Opens

Sarasota, FL - Entries are now being accepted for the 12th Annual WEVA Creative Excellence Awards Competition, according to WEVA International chairman, Roy Chapman. "Each year the competition recognizes outstanding creativity in professional wedding and event videography and every year for over decade, videographers have continued to ‘raise the bar' in production innovation," said Chapman.
With an entry deadline of 5:00 pm EDT on June 19, 2002, this year's Creative Excellence Competition features 10 categories, more than ever before, and includes new, or newly revised, categories. WEVA International invites all videographers worldwide to compete for the highest honor in professional wedding and event videography by entering this year's competition.
The complete list of all 10 wedding and event categories, and the 2002 Competition Rules and Official Entry Form, are now downloadable as a PDF file on the WEVA website at www.weva.com (click on "WEVA Awards"). The 2002 competition forms have also been mailed to all WEVA International members.
"DVD authoring has exploded in the last year," said Chapman, referring to the brand new WEVA Creative Excellence Award category of Wedding DVD Authoring. "WEVA International is excited to recognize, for the first time, outstanding creativity in the authoring of wedding DVDs."
Another new category being been introduced this year is Theatrical Event Coverage. Winning entries will be recognized for exceptional work in the production of a single stage event, such as a dance recital, fashion show, cheerleading competition, or graduation, to name a few of the events that qualify. A newly revised category is Social Event Production. This category will recognize the best production of a single social event, which can include Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, charity balls, retirement parties, receptions, induction ceremonies, etc.
The 2002 winning entries will be announced at the special WEVA Awards Presentation at WEVA EXPO 2002 on August 28, 2002, posted on the WEVA website, and published in Wedding & Event Videography magazine. Winning entries will also be inducted into the WEVA International Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame.
