WEVA Event Inspires Videographers in Houston
February 14, 2002
Houston, TX - The Lone Star State hosted its second WEVA Town Meeting, this time in Houston, on February 7, 2002. Held downtown, at the beautiful Hyatt Regency, a full house of professional wedding and event videographers turned out for the day's programs.
Multi-year WEVA Creative Excellence Award winner, Mark Shepherd of Shepherd Video Productions started the day with a great Valentine's workshop: "High-End Love Stories on a Low-End Budget." With his low-key, yet entertaining style (who can forget the exercise program for videographers Mark showed last year in Maui: a barbell with an X2B at either end!), Mark gave the attendees exactly the kind of information they were seeking.
Once again, Canopus offered a free nonlinear editing workshop for users of its products. As in every other location, the crowd in Houston was standing-room only. Canopus will continue their free workshops throughout the remainder of this year's 4th Annual WEVA Town Meeting Tour.
All exhibits were jammed during the Sponsor's Reception. Sony, Panasonic Broadcast, Canopus, and Moore Digital all reported a high-level of interest from WEVA Town Meeting attendees. For the whole two-hour reception, each exhibit booth saw extended visits from large numbers of professional videographers. The close attention the Sponsors can pay to each attendee makes the event a exceptional learning experience and provides new insights into DV, DVD, and NLE technology.
WEVA Town Meeting Tour Director Tim Ryan began the evening program by screening a WEVA International 2001 Creative Excellence Award-winning Wedding Demo, produced by LaDonna Moore whose videography business is based in the Dallas area. During the evening Town Meeting, innovative and award-winning tapes were screened and discussed providing further inspiration to the attendees.
In his nuts and bolts presentation, Scott Charlson shared a back--to-basics approach to delivering professional results. Combined with presentations from Mark Shepherd and LaDonna Moore that presented information for videographers targeting the higher-end client, the Town Meeting program proved to be an eye-opening experience for attendees looking for new ways to expand their business.
WEVA International's 4th Annual Town Meeting Tour 2002 is in full swing, crossing the country, offering educational programs for professional videographers at every stop. At each event, WEVA offers videographers the opportunity to gain useful, profitable, and cutting-edge information on new developments in DV, DVD and NLE technology.
There are six WEVA Town Meeting stops ahead, with the next being in the San Jose/Silicon Valley area on February 25, followed by San Diego on February 28.
