Member Requests Generate Another New Forum
December 27, 2001
Sarasota, FL - Many members have suggested that WEVA consider adding a new Forum, dedicated to listing stolen equipment. Recent months have seen unusual activity, particularly in the New York City area, in terms of equipment theft. In response to the member requests, WEVA has now added a public Forum for members to post information about stolen gear.
Since the crime of theft will not discriminate between WEVA members and non-members, the determination was made to have the Stolen Equipment Forum be accessible to the public through the WEVA Forums button on the Home Page Navigation Bar.
The heightened awareness of the problem should be a part of crime prevention, according to Tim Ryan, WEVA Member Services Committee Chair. "This is one Forum we hope gets very little use," said Ryan, adding "deals on equipment that sound too good to be true should be closely scrutinized".
WEVA members, and other videgraphers, who are victims of this type of crime are able to post all of the relevant details on the Stolen Equipment Forum. This includes make, model, and serial number, along with date, time, and place of the theft. Ryan suggested videographers carry with them the make, model, and serial number information for equipment that could be stolen from a job site.
