Lions Gate Entertainment Selects Blu-ray

Los Angeles, CA - Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. has announced it will use the Blu-ray Disc format to distribute movies and other material in high-definition, according to a report today by the Associated Press (AP).
Sony Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox, and The Walt Disney Co. are already backing Blu-ray for distribution of high-definition content. Studios supporting the rival format, HD-DVD, include Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures and Universal Studios.
AP reported today that “HD-DVD players and films are expected to be available by the end of the year. Blu-ray players and films are expected to be available in North America sometime next year."
