January 05, 2005
Sarasota, FL - Get a creative and technical "jump-start" on your wedding videos and special event productions this winter! The dates and locations have been finalized for the 7th Annual WEVA Town Meeting Tour. The 2005 WEVA Tour will be “on-the-road” to five major cities on a revised schedule starting in March. Tour details including program and registration information is already posted on the Town Meeting section of the association website at www.weva.com. Admission to the Town Meeting events is free of charge to all industry attendees who register in advance.
The kick-off event for the 2005 Tour will be held at the Atlanta Marriott Century Center on March 7 & 8. Following Atlanta will be San Francisco on March 16 & 17 at the Embassy Suites Hotel (Airport-South SF), Chicago, IL on March 23 & 24
at the Sheraton Chicago Northwest (Arlington Heights), New York City on March 31 & April 1 at the New Yorker Hotel (across from MSG) and Las Vegas on April 19 at Harrah’s (evening event during NAB).
As previously announced, >Sony and Adobe Systems have already joined the 7th Annual WEVA Town Meeting Tour as official 2005 Tour sponsors. “Their Tour sponsorship permits free admission to the WEVA Town Meetings, and will also provide videographers across the country with their first, hands-on view of brand new HDV equipment--including the upcoming Sony HDV pro camcorder, new NLE editing hardware and software, DVD authoring solutions, and state-of-the-art education on new developments in digital video production for professional wedding and event work,” said WEVA International Director of Association Communications Dan Argenas.
The WEVA Town Meetings, which are held in the evening on Day 1 of each city-stop, bring together hundreds of videographers, locally and regionally. “We are pleased that Sony and Adobe are on-board for this year’s Tour, especially at a time when the WEVA community has so many questions surrounding their equipment decisions due to complex changes occurring now in the SD and HD/HDV production environment,” said WEVA’s Director of Educational Development John Zale.
“The special slate of WEVA Institute workshops scheduled in conjunction with our 2005 Tour will help videographers navigate new system changes occurring in digital technology, provide extended system training, and will spotlight important new trends in wedding and event video creativity, techniques, and business marketing,” Zale noted.
"The speaker schedule for this year’s Tour,” said Zale, “features WEVA Creative Excellence Award-winning videographers and industry leaders, including Lance Gray, John Goolsby, Michael Gunter, Josh Fozzard, Tim Sudall, Mark & Trisha Von Lanken, Danny Sayson, Chris Chibucos, Maureen Bacon, and Mike Nelson. Our 2005 Tour will offer special extended workshops from WEVA Institute, such as the one scheduled for Atlanta that combines the talents of Brett Culp, Monica Arellano, and JT Fannin from the multi-year Creative Excellence Award-winning studio, The CVP Experience. Not all speakers will be in all cities. The Town Meeting section of the WEVA website will have the schedule posted shortly for each city-wide event. Special hotel room rates are also available for WEVA Town Meeting attendees. Room rates at the Atlanta Marriott Century Center, for example, are just $99/night for WEVA attendees.”
The WEVA Institute workshops, said Zale, are custom-tailored for professional wedding and event videographers and will be held in the morning and afternoon period on the first day of the city-stops, and in the morning of the second day. At the Atlanta city-stop, workshops will also be held in the afternoon of the second day, providing a full, two-day event for this year’s kick-off.
Open to all videographers, the WEVA Town Meetings will feature exclusive hands-on exhibits by the WEVA Tour Sponsors, complimentary dinner buffet, screenings of WEVA Creative Excellence Award-winning wedding and event productions, presentations by leading WEVA videographers, plus the opportunity to win valuable video gear in free prize drawings. “And, because it’s a WEVA event, the peer networking at each Town Meeting is always outstanding," said Zale.
"The WEVA Institute daytime workshops, and the exclusive WEVA Town Meeting exhibits and presentations in the evening will offer videographers the chance to enhance their technical skills, and see first-hand, the exciting new trends emerging in both technology and techniques for wedding and event work," Zale related. "We are very excited by the tremendous ability the 2005 Tour will have in bringing state-of-the-art education and extended system training to videographers across the country this winter!”
