2005 Town Meeting Tour Dates Announced at AVA Meeting
November 11, 2004

Sarasota, FL - WEVA International's Director of Educational Development John Zale was in Atlanta Monday, November 8 to announce WEVA Town Meeting Tour 2005 news at the monthly meeting of the Atlanta Videographers Association (AVA). Also present from WEVA, was association chairman Roy Chapman and out-of-town WEVA members including Maureen Bacon (C0), Luisa Winters (MD), Donna and Robin Greenwood (TN) and others.

Images from the AVA meeting, now posted on the WEVA website, include pictures of Zale announcing details for the upcoming 7th Annual WEVA Town Meeting Tour, and group photos including AVA president Bob Perl and WEVA Chairman Roy Chapman who, with Zale, gathered together with AVA attendees for a post-meeting dinner at Barnacles seafood restaurant.

At the AVA meeting Zale announced that WEVA will kick off the 7th Annual WEVA Town Meeting Tour in Atlanta with a two-day conference March 8-9, 2005 at the Atlanta Century Center Marriott, which will feature extended workshop sessions through WEVA Institute and testing for the WEVA Merited Professional Videographer (MPV) accreditation. The evening Town Meeting, which includes a buffet dinner, is free of charge. The workshop sessions in Atlanta will be offered at a special discount to introduce new state-of-the-art workshop training for wedding and event videographers.

The 2005 WEVA Town Meeting Tour, will include city-stops in San Francisco (March 15), Chicago (March 23), New York City (March 30) and Las Vegas–during NAB (April 19).

Adobe Systems, Zale announced, is already on-board as a Town Meeting 2005 sponsor and working in tandem with WEVA on the presentation of new product-specific training sessions for Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere. Other Tour 2005 sponsors, he said, will be announced shortly. Zale noted local AVA member Greg Nix was the winner of WEVA’s door prize drawing for a free Adobe DVD Encore system (retail value $549), provided courtesy of Adobe Systems.

“WEVA is excited by the opportunity to present extended-session programming on the upcoming Tour that will enable professional wedding and event videographers to take their business to higher levels of creativity and profitability,” Zale related.

“WEVA International developed WEVA Institute from the suggestions of the WEVA Local Association Presidents Council (WEVA’s Advisory Panel) and we’re excited to be offering the extended (longer length) workshop sessions through WEVA Institute as part of the upcoming Town Meeting Tour,” he said.

"Attending the AVA meeting on Monday,” said Zale, “provided an excellent opportunity for WEVA to meet our industry colleagues who are part of one of the fastest-growing local videographers associations in the country, and ‘take the pulse’ of the local membership in regards to specific programming that is most needed here. This feedback will help shape the educational content and the new system-training sessions that will be presented during the Tour-stop in Atlanta.”

Along with the extra day of WEVA Institute sessions being planned for Atlanta, Zale noted the written exam for the new WEVA MPV accreditation program will be administered the morning of Wednesday March 9, 2005 (for MPV enrollment details and study course materials see www.weva.com. Enrollment information for the exam in Atlanta will be posted shortly). The first written exam for the MPV credential was administered in August, 2004 in conjunction with WEVA EXPO 2004. The MPV exam is also expected to be administered at other venues, in addition to Atlanta, on the 2005 Tour.

“In Atlanta, and at each city-stop, videographers will also be able to see WEVA Creative Excellence Award winning videos at the WEVA Town Meeting Video Fest, learn cutting-edge production and marketing techniques, get inside information on new “niche” business opportunities that are producing extra income for sharp-marketing videographers, go hands-on with new digital video gear, and network with fellow videographers,” said WEVA Director of Association Communications Dan Argenas.
