June 30, 2004
Sarasota, FL - The WEVA EXPO 2004 program line-up of over 60 cutting-edge seminars and workshops for professional wedding and event videographers who want to reach new levels of success has been announced by WEVA International. The schedule is posted on the special WEVA EXPO website at www.weva.com/expo2004.
Admission is open to all videographers worldwide. This year's deadline for early-bird discount registration (available online) is August 2, 2004. WEVA International members receive substantial discount admission as part of their association membership benefits.
“We are very excited by the programming set for this year’s EXPO and the diversity of presentations covering virtually every aspect of wedding and event videography,” said Roy Chapman, Chairman of WEVA International. "Just reading the presentation descriptions is a eye-opener on the tremendous new opportunties now available to professional videographers. They reveal the extraordinary new industry developments and the elements of success that videographers are capitalizing on all around the country, and internationally. This year’s show offers intense, system-specific training and skill-building sessions, new creativity for shooting and editing weddings and events, more seminars on marketing and selling, the best methods for achieving success in special niche sectors of the event market, and so much more.”
The WEVA EXPO 2004 Trade Show, the biggest show of the year devoted exclusively to professional wedding and event videographers, will see the unveiling of new products and services and the latest developments in NLE, DVD, HDTV, as well as a look at what’s in store for the future of the industry, said Dan Argenas, Director of Association Communications. A partial list of WEVA EXPO 2004 exhibitors is already posted at www.weva.com/expo2004.
Argenas said many WEVA 2004 exhibitors will be offering system-specific training at workstations right on the show floor. Attendees will also be able to take advantage of special Show-Only discounts on new products and accessories that can be compared and purchased at the WEVA Trade Show, he said.
WEVA EXPO 2004 will officially open Monday, August 16, 2004 at 5:30 pm with the Opening Night Gala, sponsored by Sony, featuring the WEVA Creative Excellence Video Fest, the world’s largest video fest of state-of-the-art wedding and event video creativity.
Optional pre-convention workshops for videographers will be held during the day on Monday, August 16. The written exam for the new WEVA International Merited Professional Videographer (MPV) credential will be held at 10:30 am on Monday. The enrollment application will be posted on the WEVA website (www.weva.com) later this month. The core reading matter and other MPV details have already been posted in a special MPV news announcement on the association news section of the WEVA homepage.
The WEVA 14th Annual Creative Excellence Awards, Special Recognition Awards, including announcement of the 2004 WEVA Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame inductees will be presented on Monday evening. The WEVA Trade Show will be open for two full days Tuesday, August 17 and Wednesday, August 18. WEVA EXPO 2004 will wrap up by 5:00 pm Thursday, August 19, 2004.
Bally’s Las Vegas (directly connected to Paris Las Vegas) is offering all WEVA EXPO attendees guest room rates of just $81 per night (single or double occupancy; kids under 18 stay free). The special rate is valid three days before and three days after the official EXPO dates. Rooms at this rate are limited, however. Attendees are advised to reserve rooms early by calling Bally’s toll-free at 1-800-7BALLYS (702-739-4111) for guest room reservations.
Las Vegas is conveniently and inexpensively reached from virtually anywhere around the globe. There is no Saturday stayover requirement needed with Las Vegas flights in order to get the lowest air fares. Travel experts say now is a good time to book air fares, especially from the east coast. Jet Blue and other airlines have already posted low cost fares to Las Vegas in the EXPO time frame. There is a special Bally’s check-in desk at the Las Vegas airport (in the baggage claim area), which makes room check-in quick and easy. The airport Shuttle to Bally’s is about $5.00 one way.
