New 'Battle of Editing Styles' Coming to WEVA EXPO 2003
May 06, 2003
Sarasota, FL - “The Battle of the Wedding Editing Styles” was an incredibly popular program at last year’s 12th Annual WEVA EXPO. For Wedding & Event Video Expo 2003 (August 25-28, 2003), WEVA International has developed an awesome new multi-layered, interactive track called “The Battle of the Videographers.”
One of several key “Battles” at WEVA EXPO 2003 (open to all videographers) will be “A Love Story ShootOut.” As WEVA EXPO 2003 Director Tim Ryan describes it, “Nothing like this has ever been done before! Four nationally-recognized wedding videographers will tape the same couple at Bally’s/Paris, on separate occasions, before the EXPO. WEVA will be recording behind-the-scenes footage of each videographer as they are working with the couple on-location. Each videographer will be miked, so you can hear their directions and interaction with the couple. At WEVA EXPO 2003, we will not only screen each final edited Love Story side-by-side, we will also be screening the behind-the-scenes footage of each segment. That way, everyone can see exactly how the shots were created, how the videographers interacted with the couple, and even what the couple had to say about each videographer! Attendees will also be able to question the videographers about their shooting and editing techniques.”
Comparing creative styles side-by-side is an exciting way to quickly learn new skills that will improve your video artistry, notes WEVA International Chairman Roy Chapman. “Last year everyone learned so much by being able to see and compare vastly different approaches to editing when several WEVA Creative Excellence Award winners from around the country were asked to edit the same wedding footage. The finished results were eye-popping! This year’s ‘Battle Of’ series is part of a whole new focus for WEVA EXPO 2003. Attendees will be able to see how wedding and event videographers are achieving amazing results from a behind-the-scenes view of shooting & editing, through final production-–including seminars on DVD creation, design, authoring and packaging.”
Other “Battles” in the new series at WEVA EXPO 2003 will include the “Battle of the Photo Montages”, where leading videographers will be given the exact same set of photos to produce in a montage style. Ryan adds that WEVA EXPO 2003 will also see the return of “The Battle of the Wedding Editing Styles” with several challengers ready to take on 2002 defending champion, LaDonna Moore.
In addition, major manufacturers, like Apple, are already on-board to present extensive system-specific training workshops on new editing and DVD software. “Shooting, editing, DV, NLE, DVD authoring, marketing, selling, Internet design, video-on-the-Web, business organization, and much more, including an all-new Panel of the Brides (and Grooms) will be at WEVA EXPO this year,” said Chapman. He added that WEVA EXPO 2003 will also have a strong international flavor, with behind-the-scenes sessions exploring outstanding creativity by top wedding and event videographers from Australia, England, and Canada. Attendees will also be able to shop and compare new digital video products and services and take advantage of discount pricing at the huge WEVA EXPO Trade Show.
